Created as part of Betclic Portugal’s Defy the Odds campaign, this profile of downhill skateboarder Alexandre Moreno, aka Yoga Rider, is a fascinating study of how two disciplines – one adrenalin-fuelled and one zen – can work together.
Created by Lisbon agency Funnyhow and directed by Marco Espirito Santo, though el-Hey, the film features high-octane footage of Moreno in action while he explains how his yoga practice has been decisive in his journey into downhill skating.
The mental strength, balance, resilience, flexibility and focus that yoga requires, along with the training in overcoming obstacles, all have helped him to improve his ability to chuck himself pell mell down a very steep hill on a small-wheeled plank of wood.
Remaining super chilled throughout, Moreno manages speeds of around 80km per hour. Namasté and, like, wow.
