Titled The Gift, this gorgeous film, sensitively directed by Péter Bergendy, features world-famous cellist István Várdai.
He plays the musician-next-door whose practice sessions become a comforting part of his lonely, music-loving neighbour’s daily routine.
When the musician moves out, the woman is forlorn, but a little girl living in her apartment block saves the day in a story that illustrates the value of close communities and how sharing cultural experiences enriches our lives.
The sublime music is Meditation, a symphonic intermezzo from the opera Thaïs by Jules Massenet, performed by István Várdai and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra.
Other music was written by Attila Pacsay and performed by Tibor Zezula on piano and the Pannonia Symphonic Orchestra.
