Directed by Andrew De Zen through Boldly, this captivating and reflective film centres around a creative but emotionally bottled-up young woman as she finds the courage to express herself.
Shot on 65mm film, the project, titled Let This Feeling Go, follows a young artist who struggles to be herself around other people, and often feels misunderstood. “My experience of reality is an acquired taste…sometimes I think I just prefer to be alone”, she muses in a poetic voiceover, as we observe her solitary daily life through atmospheric vignettes set in a dimly lit, and beautifully-curated, 70s style apartment.
Reaching breaking point, she turns to dance to release her bottled up emotions. Music punctuates the so-far eerily silent soundtrack, gradually crescendoing to a powerful climax as the protagonist offers up a raw and emotional performance to Nina Simone’s Sinnerman.
