From the opening moments of this magical promo for Orelsan, in which lyrics about the smell of play-doh soundtrack an instantly adorable stop-motion character, you know you're in for an utterly charming journey.
However, this moment of whimsy is just the tip of the creative iceberg for The Quest, a delightfully constructed mixture of animation and live-action from WIZZ director Victor Haegelin.
Flitting between tactile vignettes and in-situ addresses to camera by the artist, the video manages the holy trinity of music video greatness: glorious to look at, thematically in-touch with the track, and makes the performer look super-cool.

"I was very flattered, when Orelsan asked me to direct the video", comments Haegelin. "It's exciting to mix live-action and stop-motion, and I was very touched by the lyrics in the song."
"Knowing that Orelsan is a fan of animation, I thought it would be fun to put him in the shoes of an acutal stop motion animator, and let him tell his own story with clay characters. Orelsan enthusiastically played along, and I think he might have a real talent for animation!
"I would't be surprised if he was approached by big stop motion studio in the future."
