Budapest-based director/animator Balázs Simon has created remarkable four-part promo series for EDM producer Leon Lour’s melodic EP All Our Dreams, released on Proximity.

Never actually depicting the lovers, the series, which was produced by Umbrella, ingeniously uses a car as a... ahem... vehicle to symbolise the journey of a romance.

Part one, All Our Dreams, opens with euphoric post first-date texts revealed on a phone inside a car that’s juddering through the sky, detritus flying all around, indicating the explosive nature of a new infatuation, and possibly presaging destruction to come. The intrigue of it lures you into part two, Hold On Me…

Pt 2/4 Hold On Me, Leon Lour

Here the gorgeous soaring vocals are accompanied by the motor floating over idyllic desert islands; the invisible lovers are holidaying in paradise. Clothes are flung out of the vehicle indicating they are clearly putting a new spin on in-car entertainment. It's all going so well the texts reveal it's time to meet the parents, but then....

Pt 3/4 Conscious, Leon Lour

Thing seem to have taken a wrong turn – musical instruments float around as the relationship falls out of harmony. There are two separate cars; the lovers are drifting apart as the vocalist laments she's "in the driver’s seat of a getaway car”. What will happen as we move into the fourth and final part, Countdown?

Pt 4/4 Countdown, Leon Lour

This sees the beleaguered car trying to navigate the tricky path of a break-up as it takes a nose-dive through dark storm clouds. Oh dear, anyway the ride was nice while it lasted.
