London-based indie shop Mr President launches campaign for Best for Britain, a pressure group offering hopes of a Brexit exit strategy.
With many fearing that poor old Blighty is going to hell in a handcart as we hurtle towards the omnishambles that is Brexit, this drive from anti-Brexit campaigners Best for Britain offers hope to the Remain camp that there might be a chance to overturn Brexit. Best for Britain aims to persuade Leave voters to change their minds – but the first stage of its campaign is to convince MPs to back a second national referendum when they vote on the final Brexit deal this autumn.
The campaign slogan, "We all deserve a final say on the Brexit deal," has already been displayed on billboards around the country, while the video, created in collaboration with UNIT9, launched this week and features a fictional news broadcast in which a giant red STOP button is discovered near the white cliffs of Dover. The video was initially tweeted out by a coastguard named Dan Cooper (@DB_Cooper727) and gained 250,000 views on social channels in just one day.
Various influencers, including comedian David Schneider (@DavidSchneider), were encouraged to retweet their hopes for a Stop Brexit button. Best for Britain (@BestForBritain) then posted a branded version of the video (below) that linked people to a Best for Britain petition site.
Several MPs, including Tottenham Labour MP David Lammy (@davidlammy), Twickenham MP Vince Cable (@vincecable) and Bridgend MP Madeleine Moon (@MadeleineMoon), also shared the campaign shortly after it was released.
