Elton John is the latest celebrity to pop up in Snickers' long-running 'You're Not You When You're Hungry' campaign.
In the new spot, created by AMV BBDO, the star, best known for his bittersweet ballads and anthemic songs, ventures into the hip-hop world as the hungry alter-ago of up-and-coming rapper Boogie.
Helmed by Andreas Nilsson via Biscuit Filmworks London, the 60-second spot kicks off with an MC battle at a house-party, when all of a sudden, Elton steps up to the plate in a signature glittery jacket and specs... and proceeds to belt out Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. Understandably, he gets a lukewarm reaction from the crowd. Thankfully, a fellow rapper gets the beat back on track by offering him a Snickers bar and the real Boogie returns to rhyme-spitting form.
The campaign also includes a series of six-second video snippets [below], which see Elton attempting a fist-bump, dozing off on the sofa and serenading an unimpressed guest.
