Yesterday we unveiled the first in our series of APA Show/shots 2018 Creative Pairings and, on day two, we bring you the next installment of the photographic series, shot by Julian Hanford, this time starring Academy directing duo, Si [below, left] & Ad.

“We met at a record label, while we were working together there, then our beautiful bromance has bloomed and blossomed since then. When it comes to why we work so well together, I guess we’re lucky that we’re just two mates that love doing the same job together. Mutual respect is also very important. My favourite piece we’ve done together was an ad we did recently for an Irish phone company.”

“My favourite piece of work is the short films we worked on together. This is no dis on commercials, but the great thing about them was that you get to work with the same people as you do on commercials, like Ad, but you come together as a team for the love of the film and the outcome.”

The premiere screening of the APA Collection 2018 will take place at the APA Show on Thursday September 6 at the Guildhall London and, as shots has done every year, we have partnered with the APA for a special photoshoot to celebrate the release of the APA Collection and, most importantly, some of the people behind the work featured both this year and in years past.

Our theme for 2018 is partnerships and Julian Hanford has photographed a selection of some of the APA Collection’s most awarded directors, as well as director’s whose work is starting to make an impact on the industry.

Those directors then chose the person who brings their work to the next level and who they couldn’t work without, or who helps up the impact of their work, and who they feel are helping them make a stamp on the industry. We'll be showcasing the images, one each day, up to the day of the APA Show. We have also asked each of the subjects to tell us what it is about their partner that makes them such a perfect creative pairing.

The series of photographs, as they are revealed, will be collated and can be viewed on our Slate site
