Director Kim Geldenhuys of 03:07 Films and Ogilvy Jo’burg have created a beautiful film, in partnership with Philips and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, that aims to bring Mandela’s messages of love and forgiveness to a divided world.
With the world seeing a disturbing rise in xenophobia and intolerance and certain tonsorially-challenged world leaders sending out divisive messages of hate, it has become important to remind ourselves of a different kind of leader – one with laudable, rather than laughable ideologies. And a much better hairstyle.
This film tells the story of how Ogilvy Johannesburg launched #ShavetoRemember to celebrate how Mandela spread messages of love and forgiveness over hate. The campaign started with South African celebrities getting his iconic haircut to encourage the next generation to get a Mandiba line shaved and thus show support of his values of freedom, peace, forgiveness and equality.
