What’s the best ad campaign you’ve seen recently?

A-Z of Music, sponsored by Marc Jacobs and directed by Sam de Jong

What website(s) do you use most regularly and why?

The Playlist: they have a passionate but irreverent way of looking at cinema, marketing and cultural impact of movies.

What’s the most recent piece of tech that you’ve bought and why?

A Dyson Pure Cool air purifier - Amsterdam is horribly cold in winter and excruciating hot in the summer. So when I was looking for a fan, I fell for this futuristic piece of machinery. I mean come on, it says it purifies the air I breathe. It’s not AC, though…

Facebook, Instagram or Twitter?

What’s your favorite app on your phone and why?

I would like to say some fancy edit and grading app for pictures, but the nonsense my friends and family distract me with is the best time of my life.  So WhatsApp would be my favourite.

What’s your favorite TV show and why?

Rick & Morty, because I’ve never laughed so hard while being enlightened on some philosophical level at the same damn time. Funception.

What film do you think everyone should have seen?

Under the Skin, directed by Jonathan Glazer

Where were you when inspiration last struck?

On my bike. In Amsterdam. Running late.

What’s the most significant change you’ve witnessed in the industry since you started working in it?

That ironically exceptional and original work is going viral.

If there was one thing you could change about the advertising industry, what would it be?

I’m curious what would happen if references of other work were forbidden in briefings and pitches.

What or who has most influenced your career and why?

When I complained about the lack of guidance in film school, my directing teacher just stared at me and said: “I’m not going to tell you what to create and how to create it. I’m just here to tell you if it works and to help you when it doesn’t.”

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…

I cry an exaggerated amount of tears when watching 50 First Dates.
