Have you ever hit a pothole while driving home with precious cargo in the back? We're not talking about the baby (they're strapped in, hopefully), but your pristine, fresh-from-the oven takeaway pizza will never be the same again...

Recognising that cracks, bumps, potholes and other adverse road conditions are putting pizzas at risk after they leave the store, Domino’s has come up with a brilliant solution which helps to both preserve its products and gives back to local communities at the same time.

In a new campaign created by CP+B Los Angeles, the pizza chain has pledged to save its pizzas by helping to smooth the ride home - quite literally - with a paving grant.

Domino’s is asking US customers to nominate their town for pothole repairs at pavingforpizza.com. If their town is selected, the customer will be notified and the city will receive funds to help repair roads.

“Have you ever hit a pothole and instantly cringed? We know that feeling is heightened when you’re bringing home a carryout order from your local Domino’s store. We don’t want to lose any great-tasting pizza to a pothole, ruining a wonderful meal,” says Russell Weiner, president of Domino’s USA.  “Domino’s cares too much about its customers and pizza to let that happen.”

The pizza chain has already worked alongside four municipalities to help repair roads that directly affect their customers, including Bartonville, Texas; Milford, Delaware; Athens, Georgia and Burbank, California.
