Last week saw the winners of the Kodak NAHEMI Student Commercials Awards unveiled at the Regent's Street Cinema, London.

A bumper 26 awards were handed out by Rattling Stick director Sara Dunlop and Kodak's Sam Clarke to aspiring student directors from NFTS, University of Westminster and Arts University Bournemouth among others.  

The long-running competition, this year backed by shots, is open to students studying film and TV courses in the UK and Ireland, required entrants to make a high quality 16mm film commercial for TV or cinema, originated on a single 400ft roll of Kodak colour negative film in response to one of four ‘live’ briefs for Vagaband, Not On The High Street, Ataxia Awareness and Healthy Back Bag.

From a total of 48 entries, all of which were screened during the evening, the winning films were selected by a panel of industry insiders including shots editor Danny Edwards; Peter Souter, chairman and chief creative officer, TWBALondon; Charlie Inman, creative director, Mother London; Mark Brandis, managing partner and John Wood, owner and MD, Libertine; Professor Suzie Hanna (chair of NAHEMI), commercials director Susannah Hayes and Clarke.
