Speight's: The Dance

DDB New Zealand steps away from laddish beer ad stereotypes with this unexpectedly poignant spot for Speight's.

The two-minute film follows the story of two workmates who are teaching each other to dance ahead of an important date. Practice sessions soon become group affairs, with their colleagues and friends offering constructive (if unsought) criticism and suggesting new moves, and although it's an uphill struggle, all their efforts pay off in the end. The end reveal is one of the most genuinely heartwarming scenes we've seen in a long time, elevated by some beautifully understated direction from The Sweet Shop's Steve Ayson.
