What’s the best promo you’ve seen recently and why?

Recently I have really loved Flying Lotus's Never Catch Me by Hiro Muari

What’s the first promo you remember being impressed by?

Probably It's Oh So Quiet, by Björk. It’s not even my favourite Björk track but the video really is perfect in so many ways and left a big impression on me.

What’s your all-time favourite music video?

The Smashing Pumpkins' 1979 by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. Dayton and Faris videos are some of my all time favourites.

What other directors/artists do you look to for inspirational?

None in particular, just all over really. Cindy Sherman is on Instagram now which has made me very happy.

What are you listening to at the moment?

The Horrors, V .

What’s your favourite bit of tech, whether for professional or personal use?

My double battery pack for my iPhone! Essential.

How do you feel the promo industry has changed since you started in it?

It’s changed hugely since I started. The sheer volume of work being produced now is incomparable, as is the speed at which music video production moves. It was always fast, now it’s super-fast. Obviously, the consumption of music videos has been the major and most influential change. As soon as TV became less important, videos got exciting again. I don’t like censorship of any kind ha!

What artist(s) would you most like to work with and why?

There are lots of great female artists around at the moment; Kali Uchis, Mabel, Charli XCX [below], so any strong females. I do love the escapism of pop videos even thought they are hard work!

Where do you see the music video industry being in five year's time?

I still see it being as strong as ever. It will no doubt evolve and reinvent itself again - it will have to - but I always see music related visuals existing in some shape or form.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…

I used to play the bass guitar. Not very well, I might add….
