Creature Comforts meets comfy chairs in a new stop-motion ad from Krow and Aardman for DFS.
The ad, directed by Jay Grace and entitled The Big Sofa Test, is the third in a series of ads for the sofa company created by Aardman. As in the production company's beloved ads/TV series Creature Comforts, they take real voiceover from DFS employees talking about the rigorous tests their sofas have to pass, and match it to animation that shows a slightly fantastical version of these tests.
Trying to make up for decades of craftless DFS ads of people sitting on sofas to zeitgeisty pop sings, the ad uses beautiful animation, with the characters built to look like they're made of fabric - think a woolen Wallace and Gromit or a chamois Chicken Run.
Of course, because it is a DFS ad, it also let's you know that there's a DFS sale on now, which will run until the end of days.
