What’s the best promo you’ve seen recently and why?

The Young Thug video [Wyclef Jean], it just makes me laugh and its such simple idea that even people outside of the industry can relate to.

What’s the first promo you remember being impressed by?

Virtual Insanity (Jamiroquai), I can still watch it now and be impressed by the lengths it took to make things happen in that vid.

And what’s your all-time favourite music video?

Scream by Mark Romanek. Big proper pop video of its time. So many elements you have to take care of to make it look as expensive as it feels.

What other directors/artists do you look to for inspirational?

I like to listen to Mozart when I write briefs……

What are you listening to at the moment?

JME (on repeat), AJ Tracy, Dave, Bonobo,  Moriaty, Childish Gambino. Ray Blk

What’s your favourite bit of tech, whether for professional or personal use?

Portable phone charger, WIFI.

What artist(s) would you most like to work with and why?

Alive or Dead? Alive - A Tribe Called Quest, I think you hear elements of Tribe in most bits of music nowadays wether its samples or just the tone of the music. Also their standard never really dips and you can imagine every director you briefed a track out to would bring their absolute A game when handing in an idea.

Dead - Michael Jackson, for obvious reasons…

How do you feel the promo industry has changed since you started in it?

Either its got faster or I’ve got slower but speed is the thing that has changed the most with the introduction of different bits of kit and bigger marketing departments at labels.

Music videos have had a resurgence of late; where do you see the industry being in five years’ time?

Same place it is now, progressively moving forward!

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…

I’m allergic to chocolate……!
