Ever worked on an idea only for it to be dismissed without real reason?
To mark the objective of the ANDY Awards and to celebrate its 53rd year, Deutsch NY has created a sweet animation to showcase the sometimes ridiculous reasons why ideas are discarded.
With animation from South Korean company Superfiction, the first in the triptych of spots sees two juniors present their ideas to a senior agency executive, only for them to be rudely ignored and their ideas sidelined as the executive struggles to separate his personal life from his professional decisions. Luckily this year’s jury member and Burger King SVP of global brand management, Fernando Machado, steps in… albeit brutally.
The release of the spot marks the call for entries for the 2017 ANDY Awards, which encourages flattened ideas to be revisited and potentially realised.
“Experiencing the death of a brave idea is gut wrenching, but we’ve all been through it. Sadly, some people get used to it,” says the awards’ 2017 chairman, Pete Favat, who’s also CCO of Deutsch North America. “Unfortunately, provocative ideas die in quiet, private places with no one watching. We want to expose the sometimes ridiculous reasons why these ideas die every day and hopefully put a stop to it.”
If you’ve got an idea that’s been neglected and rejected, enter it into the Awards before Jan 13 to be in with a chance to have it made.
