The best political satire carries a subtle punch and this brilliant Audi spot from Venables Bell & Partners launched in the US last night after the Clinton/Trump presidential debate with a gentle nod to the fracas of the century ending in a killer message.
Directed with the usual dazzle by Rattling Stick’s Ringan Ledwidge, the film’s action is anything but gentle and depicts two valets, a male and a female, duking it out in an epic, acrobatic, no-holds-barred, ceiling-smashing, lobster-hurling rumble that – depicted in reverse – doesn’t at first indicate what they are fighting for. The final reveal sees the battle begin over the chance to park an Audi.
Rather than pushing the brand's latest model however, the tagline is a potent communication to US voters… ‘Beautiful things are worth fighting for, choose the next driver wisely’.
