This week's photo-journal comes courtesy of Brian Cooper, who's not only chief creative officer at OLIVER Group UK but a seasoned coffee taster, self-confessed geek and adept sink-unblocker to boot.

06.30: The day starts with the arrival of photographers Brotherton Lock to shoot our house in the early morning light. My other half is an architect, and she wants the best shots. The camera is very unusual, an Arcis Swift Rm3di, which is sort of a digital version of a 5x4, large format film camera. Anyway, the geek in me means a long chat about tech.

10.00: Off then to a site visit. My average week generally involves a lot of travelling. And today I’m visiting GS1, the body who set the standards on barcodes around the world. Again, the geek in me lands up in a fascinating conversation on the possibilities of these digital information carriers.

11.30: Time for a coffee break – a presentation to Starbucks. Every Starbucks meeting starts with a coffee tasting session. Today it’s a Kenyan roast. It does the trick, and gives me the necessary lift.

13.00: Next up, another quick meeting with a new client. Passing through new places each day, I think it’s crucial to have a working environment that inspires visitors and staff alike. As I leave, this striking photography display catches my eye.

15.00: Back to our own building in Shoreditch. Every day, reception sports a different variation of the OLIVER logo. Playful and rebellious, the team at the door always keep me on my toes.

19.30: Finally, I get back home. The sink is blocked. After an exciting day of problem-fixing, I have one more to solve before I can relax.
