What work do you expect to win big in Cannes this year?

I like McWhopper. That’s an idea. A big one.

What app will you be using on your phone during festival week?

FaceTime (so the kids can say night night to tipsy daddy).

What’s your social platform of choice for festival news and updates?

Carlton Terrace.

What device (s) did you travel to the festival with and why?

Phone. So I can phone people.

What do you think will be the hot topic of the week this year?

The lack of female creatives. Everyone should be talking about it.

At this point, I should probably plug Cannes Lionesses which creatives from our agency are doing for the second year. It celebrates female winners. We’re also trying to find the earliest female winner of a Cannes Lion since the awards started in 1954. The original Peggy Olson. If you can help go to Cannes Lionesses.

Where were you when inspiration last struck?

Listening to a podcast. Tim Ferris might be hard work but he has some great guests.

What’s the most significant change you’ve witnessed in the industry since you started working in it?

Less fun. Less budget. Less great work. There’s a lot more less. (Still great, though).

What or who has most influenced your career and why?

Tony Davidson and Kim Papworth. They taught me it’s right to hate almost everything in a creative review.

What are you most looking forward to about Cannes this year?

Pink wine.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…

I’m good at keeping secrets.
