Not only has London-based production company Somesuch created award-winning ad work (think John Lewis’ latest Christmas campaign), the company has also now successfully branched into publishing with the first issue of Somesuch Stories.

Pulling content from its online writing platform – which launched in 2014 – and introducing it to the publishing world, the book contains essays, features and short fiction from the website, covering culture, nature, sex and society.

"Somesuch Stories came of a desire to create a space on the Somesuch site for proper storytelling, to use money made in advertising to give writers a decent platform for longer pieces, anti click-bait." And clearly, the book is an extension of this initiative.

Contributions come from an array of emerging writers including Amy Liptrot, Dean Kissick and Philippa Snow.

Somesuch Stories was designed by Ben Freeman – who also helped to print the project at his design studio, Ditto Press.

The initiative will be ongoing, although it is not yet known how frequently each issue will be published.

When asked how she'd describe the work, editor Suze Olbrich said, “I’ve worked with masses of great writers throughout, but when selecting pieces for this volume, it was crucial each was timeless and reflected us [Somesuch] as an entity: sincere but not always serious; questioning, the familiar queered. And they hang together well.”

If that sounds completely up your street, books are available for purchase here at just £9. Or follow the platform’s Twitter page for regular updates.
