How desperate would you have to be to get in a taxi driven by a three-year-old?
Dublin-based agency Guns or Knives today toyed with this idea for the launch of its experimental Three-Year-Old Taxi Driver campaign.
Celebrating the agency’s third birthday, the team were inspired to act like three year olds and explore toddler behaviour.
The first part of the campaign was a stunt featuring a young child – in fact played by two twins – that looked like they were sat behind the wheel of a taxi. Although the stunt was shot to look like a taxi service, no passengers were picked up - yet passers-by were certainly suprised as they caught sight of the driver.
“As you can imagine, it was a long, tough road to get a toddler behind the wheel and we spent a huge amount of time in research,” says Guns or Knives creative director Kevin Keenan.
“But the boys were delighted to play taxi for the day, safely,” he adds.
While the stunt will certainly raise the profile of the company, the second part of the campaign is even better for Hailo users - offering them the chance to win their mileage in taxi credit, so long as it’s under 1000km.
And for those that have travelled more than 1,000km in the last three years, they will be entered into an online draw to win an all-expenses-paid mystery trip equating to how far they’ve travelled in Hailo’s taxis.
Guns or Knives and Hailo created another controversial spot earlier this year that challenged prejudices surrounding the gay marriage referendum.
“[Hailo] are always open to brave new ideas which in itself is a very rewarding experience during the conception phase. Their openness drives us to constantly push the boat out creatively, inspiring bold and engaging ideas,” says Guns or Knives art director Dave Kee.
