Apparently, in the US, August 16 is National Bratwurst Day (who knew?) which Droga5 client Johnsonville has rebranded as Bratsgiving.
The campaign, which began last year with the brilliant Brattender video [below], takes a lead from their work for Newcastle Brown Ale, for whom they rebranded July 3 as Independence Eve.
This year's Bratsgiving campaign has a distinct daytime TV/shopping channel feel to it as Leon Sunday, who has "composed more songs about sausage than anyone in history", stars in an 80s-inspired video to celebrate the release of his song, The Ballad of Bratsgiving.
But it doesn't end there. Johnsonville is encouraging people to write and submit a third and final verse to The Ballad of Bratsgiving, which will then be recorded and added to the end of the finished song.
And if songwriting isn't your forte, you can also simply upload photos of you and your family celebrating Bratsgiving to social media platforms using the hashtag #Bratsgiving.
The Bratsgiving campaign was created, shot and edited in-house by Droga5 and their film arm D5 Film, and follows on from the equally surreal but brilliant work the agency has created for the brand, including Bratfast in Bed [below].
