Two months ago New York-based agency Droga5 released their first music video, for client Sony UK and German electronic dance artist Paul Kalkbrenner.
Back in May we spoke to the German creative team behind the project, Alexander Nowak [below, right] and Felix Richter [below, left], who revealed that the video, called Cloudrider, was the first part of a trilogy.
Now the trilogy is complete after the second and third installments have been released. The three videos tell the story of Florian, a seemingly naive music lover who simply wants to share his love of music with strangers in the street.
Cloudrider [above] shows us his somewhat awkward - if not legally dubious - attempts while the follow up, Mothertrucker [below], is a darker experience which shows us Florian's obvious frustration.
Now, the third video, Feed Your Head [top of page], is a redemptive story featuring many of the cast from the precvious two videos... though there's a potentially sad sting in the tale.
The videos were shot by Bjoern Ruehmann of Jefferson Projects and the concept of the triumvirate of films is about, Droga5 says, "[a] continuously rejected music fan, Florian, who is meant to parallel the outsider role of the electronic dance music genre in the US. From its origins in Chicago and Detroit the music style to this day hasn’t arrived in mainstream American culture and is paradoxically considered “foreign” by most Americans."
