You've probably seen it splashed all over the news in the last few days: a German man saws his possesions in half following a bitter divorce from his cheating ex-wife.

After posting a video online (Für Laura) to show how he split the items, the jilted husband took to ebay to sell his share.

The story appeared on several international media outlets in over 100 countries.

But it recently emerged that it was actually part of a marketing campaign created by Serviceplan Berlin for legal volunteer group German Bar Association (DAV).

The campaign was created to better prepare married couples for the possibility of divorce, by creating a marriage contract as one example.

DAV hopes that it will reduce bitter fights over possesions and child custody.

The auctioned items include a divided Vauxhall Corsa, half a mountain bike and half a teddy bear.

All the items do really exist and will be auctioned off to the highest bidder - some bids will end tomorrow. All money raised will be donated to charity.

To bid, visit ebay.
