US fast food giant Taco Bell pushes out its call to arms in order to promote their breakfast range with this clever caign centered on a dystopian society ruled by a familiar fast food brand with a clown mascot.
Created by Deutsch LA, the caign sees, in a similar vein to Ridley Scott's 1984, two young defectors break free from the shackles of their oppressive overlords. The Orwellian short was directed by Michael Spiccia and features not only the short film (above) but also an animated propaganda film reminiscent of the Soviet era (below).
As well as the films, the caign will also be supported by outdoor, social (using the hashtag #breakfastdefector) and two dedicated websites routinerepublic.com and breakfastdefectors.com, where the brand will be setting challenges for the ‘defectors’ over the next four weeks, giving entrants the chance to win exclusive prizes.
