Going out to dinner is about more than just food, it’s about a whole experience. That’s certainly the case with Bang Bang Vietnamese canteen in London after a whole narrative was spun around the restaurant.
Arm and Eye has constructed a multi-platform, interwoven back story with the restaurant at its centre. Using the name Bang Bang as a starting point, the eatery now takes centre stage in what can only be described as the first ever ‘Noodle Noir.’ A story is told in fractured pieces across the restaurant’s menus, napkins, social media, graphic artwork and a bold promotional short (above).
The film marries restaurant, branding and femme fatales and harks back to the days of comic book and pop art. This theme is extended through to the napkins which have a lipstick kiss with a phone number scrawled on it. Calling the number takes diners to a message left by a glamorous lady.
The branding was inspired by the work that theatre company Punch Drunk and is playing out across social media with additional scenes, character back stories and clues being revealed over the coming months.
