We’re living in the age of smartphones and Instagram so it was more than likely that an advertising agency would, at some point soon, use these to mediums alone to create an entire campaign.
And that’s exactly what agency Forsman & Bodenfors has done for Swedish department store chain Åhléns.
To spread the word about Åhléns’ summer collection to a younger audience, Forsman & Bodenfors and production company Snask have created a game, titled Shot it, got it! using only Instagram and the screenshot function on smartphones.
Three different Instagram videos show products flashing by in high speed. The game element comes in to play when users are urged to be fast enough to capture an item in a screenshot and post it on social media. Those that succeed get the item half-price.
Thousands of people have posted screenshots of Åhléns’ products and automatically promoted the collection among all their followers and friends.
