In 1996 Andy Barwood joined HS&P/Crayon as executive creative director, leading the Honda creative team and adding more accounts to the agency including Sony, Grants and Porsche, before the firm was bought by Karmarama in 2011.

Having made a name for himself as creative partner in the years that followed, he was appointed as creative director at cutomer engagement agency, Indicia, in February of 2014, working to build across the London and Bristol offices on accounts including Tourism Ireland, Nissan and Very.co.uk.

Below, Barwood lets us in on his creative radar, which includes floating beds, wearable tech and a daily dose of Designspiration.

What’s the best ad campaign you’ve seen recently?

IKEA’s Wonderful Everyday campaign. Directed by Juan Cabral, another beautifully-crafted piece of film.

What website do you use most regularly and why?

Designspiration. Not sure I use it the most, but as it’s on my top sites, I start every day with a bit of creative stimulation.

What’s the most recent piece of tech you’ve bought and why?

Google Glass. A kind gift from our MD and a perfect way to find a few new innovations in the social space. Explorer programme. Boom.

Facebook or twitter?

Twitter without a doubt, but Instagram and Sports Lobster are a close second.

What’s your favourite app on your phone?

Can I have two?  Uber & Spotify.

What’s your favourite TV show and why?

Californication. Hank Moody with his best, and only buddy Charlie, take you on a wild, witty and self destructive ride in the California fast lane. Bring back another series.

What film do you think everyone should have seen.

The Shawshank Redemption.

Where were you when inspiration last struck?

Walking to work through Leather Lane Market in London.

What’s the most significant change you’ve witnessed in the industry since you started working in it?

Digital and using the social channels to tell our stories. There’s never been a better time to be creative, working with innovative and entrepreneurial people.

If there was one thing you could change about the advertising industry, what would it be?

Having sat next to Dave Buonaguidi (Karmarama founder, below) for two years, I fully agree with his belief of "having an agency with no wankers".

What or who has most influenced your career and why?

There have been a few over the years and I’ve met a lot of different personalities that have inspired me to do amazing innovative work with one mantra that always remains consistent: Never Embrace Mediocrity.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know.

I lived in the same boutique hotel in London with Paul Gascoigne for four months. #superman.
