Away from work, she loves the outdoors and has been known to catch a live concert or two in a single night. Below, she tells us about her tech habits, women in the world and how she thinks the industry could improve.
What’s the best ad campaign you’ve seen recently?
Friskies Dear Kitten. I love Ze Frank’s voice and the way he pronounces “vacuum” is classic. Plus, what’s not to love about cats?
What website(s) do you use most regularly and why?
Twitter to monitor our client and partners’ posts, and keep up on news and current events.
What’s the most recent piece of tech that you’ve bought and why?
Skull Candy headphones. We have an open work area and I love my punk music!
Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook. It’s the best way to stay in touch with my friends.
What’s your favourite app on your phone and why?
OpenTable. I’m always using it to find new restaurants and make reservations on the fly.
What’s your favourite TV show and why?
The Walking Dead. It is beautifully shot and the story and character development is excellent. I never miss a Sunday night when it’s on.
What film do you think everyone should have seen?
High Fidelity because of the amazing soundtrack. I’m a big fan of music, and if a movie has a killer soundtrack, I’m all over it.
Where were you when inspiration last struck?
At the Women in the World Summit this past spring in New York. I was truly moved by the stories of some absolutely amazing women. Madeline Albright, Hillary Clinton and Christine Lagarde shared some incredible insights that inspired me both personally and professionally.
What’s the most significant change you’ve witnessed in the industry since you started working in it?
The importance being placed on earned and social media to elevate campaign messaging.
If there was one thing you could change about the advertising industry, what would it be?
More emphasis on healthy living and exercise. I’m all about a daily yoga routine. We spend way too much time at our desks and stressing, so why not kill two birds with one stone? Yoga gets you moving and stretching while calming you down.
What or who has most influenced your career and why?
Working at both a non-profit and an independent record label at different points in my career taught me the importance of good storytelling, how to think outside the box, and execute creative ideas on a very limited budget.
Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…
I was part of a collective of women who posed for the Air Force Memorial Honour Guard statue that is in Arlington National Cemetery. It was an amazing experience working with the talented Zenos Frudakis and an honour to be part of a memorial dedicated to the men and women serving in the United States Air Force.
