The Film and Film Craft winners were announced last night (Saturday 21 June) at the Palais de Festivals as Cannes Lions came to a culmination with the final awards ceremony of the week.

Film

Winning one of two Grands Prix awarded in the Film category as well as a gold in Film Craft was Volvo Trucks' Epic Split featuring Jean-Claud Van Damme. The work was hotly tipped to do well at the festival and the jury's decision didn't disappoint as Gothenburg agency Forsman & Bodenfors claimed the prize.

A second Grand Prix was awarded to adam&eveDDB London for its Harvey Nichols film, Sorry, I Spent It On Myself. Created to promote a Christmas campaign based on the concept of saving your money on gifts for loved ones, the film was also well received in the auditorium on Saturday evening.

Other work to earn gold Lion treatment in Film was Marmite Rescue, Coca-Cola Parents, Nike Possibilities, PlayStation Perfect Day, New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) Mistakes, Wren First Kiss, 350 Action Climate Name Change, Waterislife Bucket List, Honda Sound of Honda/Ayrton Senna 1989 and The 1000 Miles of Luca for the International Day of People with Disabilites. Gold campaign prizes were handed to Southern Comfort, Old Spice and Du.

Film Craft

The jury in the Film Craft category decided not to award a Grand Prix this year. The USA won a slew of gold Lions for work including Bob Dylan Like a Rolling Stone (two), Proctor & Gamble Pick Them Back Up, Bud Light's Ian Up for Whatever, Dick's Sporting Goods Focus & Explode, Chipotle The Scarecrow. HBO's Awkward Viewing series of spots also picked up a gold Lion Campaign win.

Other golds in Film Craft were awarded to NZTA for Blazed (two), Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Defy, Lurpak Cook's Range Adventure Awaits and EITB won a gold Campaign for its Better with Music work.

The Grand Prix for Good was awarded to Lemz Amsterdam for its Sweetie work (below).

Other awards

Agency of the Year was given to adam&eveDDB London. Dentsu Tokyo came second and AlmapBBDO São Paulo third.

Independent Agency of the Year went to Forsman & Bodenfors Gothenburg. Second place went to Lemz Amsterdam and third to Wieden + Kennedy Portland.

The Network of the Year award was presented to Ogilvy & Mather with BBDO taking second place and DDB in third.

The coveted Palme d'Or Production Company of the year prize which was handed to MJZ this year, with O Positive and Outsider second and third respectively.

Also awarded was the Holding Company of the Year which went to WPP. Omnicom took second place and Publicis third. McDonald's' senior executive vice president, global chief brand officer was onstage to collect the company's Creative Marketer of the Year award.

The winners of the Young Lions Film Competition were also announced, with the Bulgarian team, Vladimir Gerasimov and Zhelez Atanasov winning the Gold medal. The Young Marketers Competition saw the dedicated jury award the team from Russia, Marisol Diaz Rozic and Marianela Frick from Pepsico, with the Gold medal.

Also onstage on Saturday night were U2 lead singer Bono to accept the first-ever LionHeart Award for his work with aids charity RED. Joe Pytka was honoured and presented with the Lion of St. Mark, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to creativity in advertising and communications and the prize-giving brought the festival to a close for another year.
