Joe Pytka to be honoured at Cannes Lions
Legendary commercial director to be awarded the Lion of St. Mark
Organisers of the 61st Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity have announced that commercial director Joe Pytka is to be awarded the prestigious Lion of St. Mark.
The director is to receive the prize in recognition for his long and outstanding contribution to creativity in the advertising and communications industry. Pytka began his career working evenings at WRS Motion Pictures before running a post production department for MGM Telestudios. During his time in the business the director has picked up several Lions, two Grands Prix, seven Palme d’Or awards and two Cannes honorary Lions at last year’s 50th celebrations in Cannes, for Best Director and Best Production.
Previous recipients of the Lion of St. Mark award include Lee Clow , Dan Wieden and Sir John Hegarty. Pytka is due to receive the award in Cannes, France, on Saturday 21 June.
