The mysterious star of the California Lottery’s Luck Will Find You caign crossed over from fiction to virtual reality in a first-of-its-kind live interactive stunt in LA. The supernatural character appeared in real-time on the giant LED screens at the downtown LA entertainment complex and engaged with unsuspecting bystanders in a promotion for the recently launched California Black Exclusive Scratchers.

Lady Luck is known as the star of the California Lottery’s latest television caign (below), where she is the mysterious purveyor of luck to some very fortunate lottery players.

The live stunt experience adds to her mystique when, as if by magic, the virtual character was able to interact with public in the plaza below the LED screen. People were chosen from the crowd and invited to participate with the character who offered them the chance to win big with the new scratch cards.

This level of interactive technology has never been used before. An actress was used and a green-screen with a live feed from the plaza below to pull it all off. In order to make the experience as seamless as possible, entertainment and visual effects company V Squared Labs created a custom software platform to react to real-time interactions and mishaps.

"It was all about creating a fun, engaging, interactive piece of entertainment," says David Angelo, founder and chief creative officer of David & Goliath. "We wanted to bring Lady Luck to life and deliver on that truly surprising moment when luck finds you."
