Language is fluid. There’s more to it than spoken word or signing with hands; it’s universal. Language is dynamic, texting and social media outlets connect people around the world through Facebook and Twitter, which use neither sound nor hand gesture.
The Department of the 4th Dimension (The D4D) and founder/director Matt Checkowski has created a branded documentary series in collaboration with The University of California Office of the President, featuring UC faculty and alumni who are making a major impact on the lives of their community. Patrick Boudreault, a professor of linguistics at the University of California Berkeley is one of those people. In the film above, Boudreault, who is deaf, shares his thoughts on language and how it is manifested in different forms.
