shots is proud to announce the launch of its annual competition for young photographers worldwide.
We are looking for a short narrative sequence of original work (3-10 images) that holds an interesting creative angle, for possible inclusion in the shots Directory 2013. There will also be a prize of £500 for the outright winner selected by our judging panel.
This is a unique opportunity for current and graduating photography students and young aspiring photographers. Each year, shots publishes a substantial Directory which acts as a major resource for international brands, advertising companies and the creative industries that serve them. It is used all year round by creative directors and art buyers worldwide and is an invaluable outlet for those looking to progress in the field and the arts.
Sixty finalists will be chosen from the competition entry; and from those finalists, ten outstanding submissions, including three runners-up and an overall winner, will be announced in November 2012.
From the 60 finalists, the best and most suitable work will be given space in the Directory with contact details for the photographers listed. One image from the ten outstanding submissions will feature on the cover and the overall winner will also receive a cash prize of £500. Selected runners-up will be given additional full-page exposure throughout the book, the shots Directory 2013, when it is published in December 2012.
The competition is open to all current and recent photography students as well as those hoping to begin a career in the field. Entry is free and the closing date for submissions is Tuesday 28 August 2012. The competition will be judged by a professional team from the advertising and photography community along with the shots editorial team.
