On 31 May this year homeless charity Samusocial de Paris will be forced to permanently shut the doors of its emergency accommodation for women in the former Jean Rostand Hospital in Ivry sur Seine, Paris. This closure will put the city’s homeless women, many of whom are victims of violent relationships and family breakdowns, at even greater risk.

To draw attention to the imminent closure and educate the public about their imminent plight, Publicis Conseil has created an interactive web film that plunges the viewer into a terrifying situation where a homeless woman is attacked by two men. She manages to reach the doors of the shelter at which point the viewer is given the option to keep them open, by sharing a petition for the centre’s protection, or ignore the opportunity resulting in the story suffering a dark ending.

The fast-paced film is the first advertising project César award-winning director Frédéric Schoendoerffer has ever taken on. He was inspired by the script and glad to help the cause, providing his services free of charge.

There is clearly a need for the centre's existence to continue and in 2011 it provided 16,082 nights of accommodation to women who desperately needed it.
