Donald Gunn & Michael Conrad to moderate NYFs Advertising jury
The New York Festivals reveal that Donald Gunn will once again moderate the executive jury for the group’s 2012 advertising awards, and this time around he will be joined by Michael Conrad, president of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. With each member given equal status and no leader appointed, Gunn and Conrad will instead guide the judging process. The festival takes place 2 to 3 May, for more details click here.
D&AD student briefs go live
Calling all budding creatives – the briefs for the 2012 D&AD Student Awards are now available to download for free on the D&AD website. Written by industry insiders, including Rankin, Spotify, Interbrand, Little White Lies and Oakley, 23 different briefs are on offer and for the first time this year anyone aged 26 or under, or who has graduated within the last two years, can also take part in the awards.
Vimeo opens up entries for 2012
Online video community Vimeo has announced the launch of its second annual awards and festival, taking place in NYC next June. Entry submission for the 2012 awards is now open, and four new categories have been added – advertising, fashion, action sport and lyrical. The grand prize is $25,000 while each category winner will receive $5,000 to help create new work – visit the website for more.
YoungGuns winners announced
The winners of the 2011 YoungGuns awards have been announced. YoungGuns aims to unearth and celebrate emerging talent in the industry and showcase the work of advertising’s future stars. The 2011 Professional YoungGuns of the Year (Best in Show) are Alexander Nowak and Felix Richter from Y&R New York for Airwalk’s Invisible Pop Up Store. Entries for the category came from 20 countries. The 2011 Student YoungGuns of the Year (Best in Student Show) are Edi Inderbitzin, Maximilian Gebhardt and Maximilian Hoch from Miami Ad School Europe for Kinder’s Good Surprise. General Gau commands Boston
Brickyard VFX has joined forces with character animator Anders Beer to launch hybrid animation and production company General Gau in Boston. Devoted to developing bespoke character-based content, Beer has worked at Disney, Digital Domain and Sony Pictures Imageworks on films including Shrek, Hellboy 2 and Paul.
