As summer shifts into gear, thoughts turn to trips to the seaside and long vacations. Which is kind of fitting really as this week Toronto's newest production house opens it doors - and it's called Holiday Films.
Holiday was set up by executive producers Derek Sewell and Josefina Nadurata. Sewell was formerly the executive producer at Blink, Toronto, while Nadurata was executive producer at Reginald Pike.
"From the beginning of our discussions it was clear we shared a vision of what a contemporary production company should look like," said Sewell. "Equally as important was Josefina's reputation in the industry. She's a straight shooter with a very creative side to her. People like working with her."
They've drawn up a small but talented roster for the Canadian market. The eight directors number Neil Abramson, Sorrel Ahfeld, Scott Corbett, Georgie Greville, Kenan Moran, Aaron Ruell, Edward Schumacher and Craig Tanimoto. It was important for Nadurata and Sewell that the directors all had extra skills that to contribute. As Nadurata explains, Holiday isn't just a production company and she also hopes it'll be a source of creative solutions.
So why call the company Holiday? "We wanted a positive name that inspired a fresh, light-hearted, creative approach," said Nadurata. And, continuing that holiday spirit, the company is asking for people to send in holiday snaps so that they can be showcased on the website. Send your pics to Holiday Films.
