BFCS has closed after 30 years on London's commercial production scene.
In a statement, partners Michael Seresin and Derek Coutts said that "in the light of a rapidly changing industry, we felt it was no longer viable to maintain the overheads required for a large production company."
The production house, named after Brooks Fulford Cramer Seresin, in its heyday had offices in LA and New York and acclaimed features director Alan Parker on its roster for commercials.
13 of the company's commercials directors will now be looking for new representation. A further seven remain signed to the Vigilante label, BFCS's music video arm, which will continue to trade.
Michael Seresin, Alan Parker's long-standing director of photography on features including Birdy, Angel Heart, Midnight Express and Angela's Ashes, continues to shoot commercials. Derek Coutts will also continue to direct. It is not yet known through whom they will be represented.
Lynette Kyme, managing director of the company for the past two and a half years, denies that the closure is any recognition of a failure of the company to reinvent itself.
"Derek and Michael cite a rapidly changing industry. It was not a statement about requiring reinvention," she said. "All I can say is that it's been a fantastic experience in how to work with the best.
"Vigilante and it's 'brand' exist until further notice. It has its own set of clients and therefore its own potential too," continued Kyme, who continues to manage that side of the business.
