This advert recounts the story of Nelson Mandela's prison mate, Mac Maharaj. The voiceover informs us that during their fourteen-year incarceration all literature was banned, save for that which could be used for educational purposes. One man studied Economics, so they requested a subscription to The Economist, which they duly received. It offered prisoners a glimpse of freedom, until the guards realised it was a political journal. Startling images run underneath the narration, including a burning black wedding dress and alien creatures in misshapen masks. "The Economist: More than Economics."
