This weekend saw the culmination of the 2017 Kinsale Shark Awards and, on the Saturday night, the announcement of the event's advertising winners. 

Thursday night had already seen the Music Video and Short Film winners garlanded but at Saturday's gala dinner the advertising awards took centre stage. This year the Sharks handed over the overall Grand Prix to a piece of work for Tourism Ireland for Game of Thrones, called TapestryDecided by the chairs of the four juries the Publicis London campaign which is a hand-woven tapstry depicting scenes from the hit HBO show, also won a gold in the Print category.

There were relatively few gold Sharks handed out over the course of the night, with the Integrated, Promo and Radio categories all devoid of gold-winning work. Elsewhere, though, AT&T The Unseen, via BBDO New Yorkpicked up two golds in Film Craft, for Best Direction and Best Editing.

BBDO New York also won two golds in Film Craft for Mars Recovery Room, while AMV BBDO and Furlined picked up gold Sharks for Sainsbury's The Greatest Gift and Donate Life The World's Biggest Asshole [below], respectively.

The Film category saw a total of 12 gold Sharks awarded, with another going to The World's Biggest Asshole. Droga5 London came away with a clutch of golden statues for their work for Kwiff with Biscuit Filmworks UK, and on Rustlers' 80 Years of Torment with Somesuch. BBDO New York once again did well, here picking up three golds; two for the Sandy Hook Promise campaign, Evan [below], and one for Mars Recovery Room.

In the inaugural Creative Bravery Award, from a shortlist of six campaigns, two picked up a gold Sharks. Donate Life's The World's Biggest Asshole took home one of them and Kathryn Ferguson's 25 Annoying Things [below], for Amnesty International, came away with the other.
