To mark Fathers Day in China, Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai have created this ambitious piece of branded content for BMW.
The 14-minute short film, helmed by Martin Werner, addresses the immense pressures faced by middle-class Chinese to balance society's expectations of modern and traditional responsibilities through the story of a working dad struggling to meet the demands of his job and family life. It's told partly through the eyes of his young son, who imagines a fantasty world where his dad tackles a gang of kung fu fighters and negotiates with hostile kidnappers in order to spend time with him - ultimately escapes his foes in a dramatic car chase with the help of the BMW X3.
