This new spot from Droga5 London for Rustlers takes the idea that the past was a glorious time in which to be alive and turns it on its head. Instead of a rose-tinted look back at times past, we see a child become a boy, who in turn becomes a man, all the while bearing the brunt of historical hardships, from chimney sweeping, getting caned at school and having to queue up on the breadline to protests in the 60s, strikes in the 80s, aerobics classes and 90s dance nights.
But there's at least some comfort in being alive in the 21st century, it seems, as the old man readies himself for Rustlers new flame grilled burger.
“Long the late night snack of drunken louts and moody teenagers, Rustlers burgers are surprisingly delicious," says David Kolbusz, CCO of Droga5 London, "they've just gotten a bum rap. Our mission was to align the perception with reality. Made from beef that can be traced back to their farm of origin, these little miracles are flame-grilled and ready to eat in 90 seconds. When you think about it, that's kind of amazing.”
The film, directed by Somesuch London's Steve Rogers, was shot in Budapest which, ccording to Kolbusz, “is a great place to shoot if you’re looking for a Venn diagram of depressing meets cinemagraphic”.
