Between the years of 1997 and 2012, burger lovers all over France had to come to terms with the fact that fast food giant Burger King left their shores.

Created by Paris-based agency Buzzman, this humorous mockumentary follows this period of social chaos, which led to a black burger market flourishing and a crime wave that police weren’t able to keep up with.

Although firmly tongue-in-cheek, Burger King really did leave the country for a 15-year period because the 38 franchised restaurants that they ran were not profitable.

The seven-minute online film was produced by WHY US? and helmed by Simon Levene.
