Culver City-based visual effects house Zoic Studios has added Casey Hupke as Art Director for Zoic’s commercial and games division. With nearly a decade of experience as a VFX designer/animator in the commercial space, he has worked with top studios including Motion Theory/Mirada, Logan, The Famous Group and Imaginary Forces. His unique visual style, often characterized by computational particle physics, can be seen in campaigns for top clients such as IBM, AT&T, Coca-Cola, Exxon, Cisco and Buick.

With the recent addition of Executive Producer Matt Thunell, Hupke joins the growing commercial and games division to focus on motion graphics and design work, following a recent remodel of the Culver City studio to make the space more client-friendly and modern.

Says Hupke, “I was a fan of Zoic before I even really understood what visual effects were. As a nerd, and an artist, it was impossible for me to resist coming on board as part of the family. The mastery of the craft, the history, the personalities all come together to form something I’m proud to be a part of.”

Adds Zoic’s Executive Creative Director/Co-Founder Chris Jones, “Design has become an increasingly critical component of our Commercial division over the past few years. It offers our advertising clients a more robust solution in terms of services, and influences the art of all our projects. We’re very excited to have Casey join the team.”

With a background in Computer Science, Hupke’s design aesthetic has a distinct applied math influence. With experience working in compositing, design, Cinema 4d animation and as a creative director, he has developed a fantastical and cerebral slant that has driven stellar imagery for a wide range of creative projects.
