This evening [July 8] saw the winners of the 2021 Young Director Award, in partnership with shots, revealed during a virtual ceremony. 

Introduced by YDA President, Francois Chilot, who stated that "new directing talent is what feeds our industry", the 24th annual YDA ceremony handed out 33 Silver Screen trophies and 19 Gold Screen trophies, as well and one Special Jury Prize.

This year's jury was chaired by Executive Producer and Partner at HALAL, Gijs Determeijer who, along with almost 40 industry experts, worked through hundreds of entries to unearth this year's winners. 

Director Zornitsa Dimitrova, a student at the Filmakademie in Baden-Württemberg, was the recipient of two Gold Screens as well as the Special Jury Prize for her stunning film called A Dark Moment of Faith, which was entered into the Film School (6 mins and over) category, and the Short Film (6 to 30 mins) category.

Others winners across the competition include Chelsea Pictures' Kevin Wilson Jr who took home a Gold and a Silver Screen for his film, Unboxing, in the Changing the World Frame by Frame and Charity categories respectively, and another Gold in the Commercial category for P&G's Widen the Screen.

David Dearlove picked up a Gold Screen in Best Use of Humour and a Silver Screen in Short Film (up to 6 mins) for his brilliant short film that's a parody of short films, Taj Mahal Presents... A Short Film.

In the Animation and Film School (up to 6 mins) categories, director Marleen Valien, another Filmakademie in Baden-Württemberg student, picked up one Gold Screen in each for her film series Made For Hoomans.
