Welcome to Bicep's weird hospital
Aoife McArdle's directs latest music video for Bicep, Water Ft. Clara La San.
SMUGGLER director Aoife McArdle has teamed up with Irish duo Bicep for their latest track Water.
The film opens with a patient and two hospital staff members journeying down an endless corridor. The sterility and lifelessness at this moment is heavily contrasted once the tempo speeds up and we start to gain an introspective look into the protagonist’s mind.
McArdle takes us on a surreal and absurd journey through her psyche as the film becomes emotionally charged. We see the patient gain agency and the physical scope of the film starts to expand, each new location takes the form of a different stream of her consciousness.

Director McArdle states: "I love Bicep as artists and people so it was cool that a coffee together led to making this video. It’s been particularly rewarding because we’re all from the North of Ireland and I’m proud of what they’ve achieved."
"Water made me think about existence. Life & death. Our endless anxieties and preoccupations, sometimes warranted, sometimes absurd. It’s more important than ever to have a sense of humour right now. Grateful to my brilliant lead actress, Angela Nwagbo and my whole team, particularly Black Kite for working so hard on this and of course Bicep for trusting me with their deadly music."
