vivo unveils The Farewell
vivo unveils captivating new campaign for the V40 and V40 Pro: A heartfelt tribute to family moments
vivo has just launched its latest campaign for the highly anticipated V40 and V40 Pro, the newest additions to their acclaimed V-series lineup.
Titled The Farewell and starring TV actor Karan Wahi, this emotionally resonant film captures the lengths a devoted family will go to create lasting memories for their youngest member before he leaves the nest on his journey abroad to university. The narrative-driven ad, infused with both humour and heart, was filmed across three days on location in Delhi. The campaign was spearheaded by VML India in collaboration with the renowned production house Karmman Line. This marks the second time that director Nicholas Lam has partnered with vivo, following the successful launch of the V23 series in 2021.

“Our goal was to strike a delicate balance between a premium feel and a touch of ‘DIY’ charm, highlighting the extraordinary efforts this family made to recreate the special moments that shaped their son’s childhood, whether it be beach vacations in Bali, birthday celebrations, big reunions, or the vibrant festivities of Diwali,” explains Lam. “The challenge was to organically integrate the V40 and V40 Pro’s cutting-edge features into the story, especially notable as these models are the first models to be co-engineered with the legendary ZEISS brand optics.”
Working closely with VML India’s ECD Sundeep Sehgal and creatives Binoy Sarkar and Kshitij Tiwari, the team collectively went to great lengths in the scripting stage to ensure there would be a theatrical quality to the moments and transitions between scenes. They were determined to avoid trendy camera techniques or clichéd VFX “scene stitching,” instead opting for an approach that feels lovingly handcrafted, as if these were sets that any family could have created. The result is a campaign that is deliberately “lo-fi,” yet undeniably elegant, with a focus on relatable, sincere storytelling.
The The Farewell campaign is now airing on television and live on vivo's digital, social and out-of-home platforms, showcasing the V40 and V40 Pro's innovate features and partnership with ZEISS in a heartwarming and authentic way.
