Award-winning British director James Strong has signed with RSA for exclusive UK commercial representation.

Strong is best known for directing hit shows such as Vigil, Broadchurch, Downton Abbey and the 2024 International Emmy winner Mr Bates vs The Post Office.

“James is an incredible storyteller," said Josie Juneau, RSA Head of Advertising. "His work never fails to pack a punch, bringing drama and emotion to everything he does. On top of that he’s a ridiculously lovely man, perfect winning combo. I can’t wait to work together.”

Strongs' expansive resume includes complex, emotionally resonant films and TV programs recognised the world over. His 2021 submarine thriller Vigil became BBC’s most watched new drama in six years. Upcoming projects for James include the 2024 feature film Anna, starring Maxine Peake and Ciaran Hinds.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the RSA family," Strong said. "They have been the gold standard for producing outstanding, exciting, and innovative material for years. Their reputation of putting the filmmaker at the heart of the creative process is second to none. I can’t wait to get started!"

The pairing with Strong comes amidst a wave of recent growth and talent acquisitions at RSA. The production leader continues expanding its global offerings across documentary, scripted content, advertising, and more.
