Sportingbet’s Live Amplified proves scale is all in the execution

Robot director Craig Moore turns a single elevator set into an expansive world of heightened reality in Sportingbet’s latest campaign, Live Amplified. A visually crafted commercial built on rhythm, texture and controlled chaos.
Despite the strict legislation surrounding gambling advertising and the creative limitations that naturally come with it, the team at Duke Advertising approached the script as an opportunity rather than a restriction. Instead of relying on overt betting mechanics or promotional messaging, Doug Louter, ECD at Duke wrote a concept focused on atmosphere, character and emotion, developing a script that captured the excitement of live betting playfully and cinematically. What begins as a seemingly simple setup quickly evolves into something far more ambitious, with the elevator transforming into a stage for larger-than-life personalities, surreal moments and cinematic movement. Blending humour with subtle magical realism, the film leans into the unpredictability and energy associated with live betting while maintaining a refined visual language throughout.
Moore, known for his highly visual approach to performance, was immediately drawn to the concept’s characters and the creative tension between confinement and scale.
“The characters felt cinematic from the start,” says Moore. “Placing them in an elevator gave us a natural sense of comedy, but it also opened the door to something more imaginative. By introducing subtle magical touches, we were able to create a world that feels amplified, where the elevator can go anywhere and the story can evolve in unexpected ways.”
Despite its contained setting, the film feels expansive through craft and execution. Probe lenses and wide 16mm setups helped exaggerate the dimensions of the space, while lighting and production design worked together to give the environment depth, texture and movement.

Robot Head of production Olivia McGrail explains that the production’s ambition was never dictated by budget, but by collaboration and problem solving “We recently wrapped a commercial for Sportingbet and it’s one of those projects that really came down to people,” she says. “The idea was simple: make something that feels big, intentional and cinematic without a huge budget to lean on. No shortcuts on the thinking, just smarter ways of bringing it to life.”
“What made it work was the crew, a group of collaborators we trust who all showed up, backed the vision and found ways to push it further than it probably had any right to go.” The collaboration extended across every level of production, with the campaign reflecting the creative chemistry between agency, director and production company throughout the process.
“Working with the Robot on our Sportingbet TV commercial was such a positive experience from start to finish,” says Nino Naidoo, Head of Production the agency for this job, Duke. “The team were professional, creative and incredibly easy to work with, which made the entire process feel smooth and collaborative.” “It was clear how passionate they were about delivering the best possible outcome, and the final commercial turned out even better than expected. I truly appreciated the experience and would happily work with them again.”
The result is a tightly controlled yet creatively expansive film that proves how a singular concept, paired with strong visual direction and the right collaborators, can create something that feels far bigger than the sum of its parts.
